Bakery inside Downtown Fresno restaurant to close amid high-speed rail construction

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A bakery located inside a popular downtown Fresno restaurant will close its doors this weekend, citing ongoing construction impacts from the state's high-speed rail project.

The brick-and-mortar bakery operates inside Libelula, a restaurant on Broadway Street. According to the restaurant, the decision to shut down the bakery was driven by declining business due to nearby high-speed rail construction.

The bakery will discontinue weekend operations, with its final day set for Sunday.

Co-owner Kimberly Cookson expressed gratitude to customers who supported the business over time.

"I'm thankful to everyone who stopped by when we first opened... just anyone who came and supported us... believed in the bakery," Cookson said.

Libelula itself will continue normal operations, remaining open Tuesday through Sunday.
