Big Fresno Fair continues on despite wet and rainy conditions

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Day two of the Big Fresno Fair brought rain to the fairgrounds.

"A little bit of rain is not a big problem. A whole lot better than 105 degrees last year," German Amezcua with the Big Fresno Fair said.

The wet and windy weather didn't deter crowds from enjoying all the fair has to offer.

Attendees hopped on rides as vendors covered their bases. They also covered their registers to keep the rain from impacting their sales.

The fair is reminding visitors of indoor options, including museums, exhibits and art galleries.

"There are so many different buildings that you can be indoors and you can enjoy, so there are a lot of things to do where you don't have to be outside," Amezcua said.

Showers arrived across the 165-acre fairgrounds late afternoon Thursday, causing windy conditions.

It was enough reason for Rap artist YG to cancel his scheduled meet-and-greet with fans.

The Paul Paulette Theatre was packed as fans waited over an hour as rain clouds moved out and windy conditions remained.

The fair says it has contingency plans in place should the weather turn more extreme.

"A little bit of rain, a little sprinkle, we can deal with that," Amezcua said.

Rain or shine, the Big Fresno Fair welcomes families to come out and spend time making memories.

"You definitely want to come out here. It's once a year. This is the 142nd year of the big Fresno fair, so it's tradition for many, many years," Amezcua said.
