Friday morning, crews were hard at work setting up the stage, tents and fun photo ops.
"It's just continued to grow, and Fresno has really embraced us and I think and I think that is why they feel okay having 'party in the park' because they know what to expect and know it's going to be a great time," said Bonnie Marquez with Activated Events.
The inaugural event features two high-energy artists from different genres.
The CEO of Activated Events says it was time to expand and create unique experiences for fans.
On Saturday, country music legend Blake Shelton will take the stage and Sunday, global Latino icon Pitbull will have everyone dancing to the beat.
"You know, maybe someday we will do 2 days of the same genre but this year we wanted to give people something a little different," said Marquez.
She says the Fresno community has always been a welcoming crowd and is excited for what those who attend will experience, beyond the music.
"There is line dancing, photo ops, there is so much to do here, we have your weekend planned," said Marquez.
Joy and excitement, Sergeant Mark Van Wyhe says, is exactly what's needed in Fresno.
"Go out and have some fun. This is a great event, these are some of the things we want in our city, but we want it to be safe," said Sgt. Mark Van Wyhe.
He oversees the special event unit and says dozens of officers are prepared to work the long weekend, keeping the community safe and traffic flowing.
"We perfected a plan, it's worked great ever since in order to get people in and out of the park, which will be upwards of 10-12,000 people."
He says in order to get everyone out of Woodward Park safely and quickly, people must follow the road signs and be patient with one another.
He also urges all attendees not to drink and drive.
