FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Democratic candidate and former Health and Human Services secretary Xavier Becerra made a campaign stop in downtown Fresno on Saturday.

According to Becerra's campaign team, over 400 people turned out to the event at the Double Tree by Hilton.

Becerra, who is on his "Fighting for the California Dream Tour" is among the crowded Democratic field hoping to take the state's top spot.

Others running in the same party include billionaire Tom Steyer and Mayor of San Jose, Matt Mahan.

Becerra does have connections to the Central Valley, as his wife was born in Hanford.

This campaign visit comes a day after Republican candidates Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco faced off at a forum in Clovis.
