California voters urged to mail ballots by Tuesday to count in June primary

There are just seven days to go now until the June second Primary here in California. And if you plan to vote by mail, Tuesday is the day to do it.

According to the Secretary of State's office, if you don't mail out your ballot by Tuesday, May 26, it may not make it in time for election day.

The advice is due to a change at the United States Postal Service. Mail at collection boxes and post offices more than 50 miles from a regional hub is now picked up the next day.

That means mail dropped off in these areas on election day will not be postmarked until Wednesday, making ballots ineligible for counting.

If you miss Tuesday's suggested deadline, you can also drop your ballot off at a voter center or a ballot box.



You can also go to the post office to request a postmark on your ballot.
