City and county representatives joined Fresno Housing for a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning at Davu Village on Warren Avenue.
The housing will replace the former emergency shelter Golden State Triage Center, with 62 apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom units and a managers unit.
Davu Village also represents an effort to support people transitioning out of homelessness or at risk of being unhoused.
Officials say teamwork is the driving force behind these types of projects.
The development represents the third motel along the Parkway Drive corridor to be converted into housing.
