Around 12:30 p.m., Los Angeles police received calls about a man doing donuts in his car on Hollywood Boulevard. Police responded to the scene and found a man in his 30s claiming there were explosives in his car.
The bomb squad was called to the scene and Highland Avenue through Franklin Avenue was shut down. A bomb squad detonated its own charge, quickly concluding there was no explosive device in the trunk.
The suspect was later detained and arrested for falsely reporting a bomb threat.
An outraged neighbor shouted his anger at the man who had caused so much chaos in their community.
"You are a big, tough guy in a black Jetta. There's [expletive] kids out there," one man shouted.
