Driver killed after crashing into utility pole near Hanford

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A driver was killed early Wednesday morning after crashing into an electric pole south of Hanford, according to authorities.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the area of Jackson and 9th avenues around 6 a.m. on Wednesday to investigate the crash.

Officers determined the man was speeding east on Jackson Avenue when the vehicle lost control, swerving out of its lane onto a dirt shoulder.

The car then struck a utility pole, killing the driver at the scene.

The man's identity has not been released.



CHP says drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
