It happened on Sunday night around 11 p.m. in the area of North and Minnewawa.
CAL FIRE crews arrived and found that the fire was on the exterior of the building and moved inside.
Firefighters said there were residents in the adjacent units but were not affected.
CAL FIRE was assisted by Fresno Fire.
The cause is under investigation.
