Talk about dedication.

Ethan Hawke was filming season two of "The Lowdown" until 1am in Tulsa, Oklahoma before he hopped on a plane to attend the Emmys "For Your Consideration" event for the show in Hollywood. The series has helped him achieve something really special.

"I've never done this! I've never had a season two of anything in my life," Hawke told On The Red Carpet.

Hawke stars as Lee Raybon, a rare book dealer and a writer who's committed to exposing corruption in and around his beloved city of Tulsa. In season one of the critically acclaimed series, Lee's exposé on the powerful Washberg family is followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg, the black sheep of the family. Lee tries to get to the bottom of Dale's death and finds himself in the crosshairs of some powerful and sinister people around the city.

"It's what makes you want to be an actor, you know. To play characters that speak to you, that you want to share with people," Hawke said.

Hawke, who is also an executive producer on the show, said they're currently in the thick of filming.

Betty Gilpin, Austin Amelio, Martha Plimpton and Clifton Collins, Jr. have been added to the cast, along with Tommy Lee Jones.

"He's always been one of my favorite actors and he's come to Tulsa guns blazing," Hawke said. "We've been having a great time working together."

"It's a little bit daunting in that you can have the second album jitters. But in the same level it's, 'well it's the same band, we know what we're doing, and we can do it better,'" he said.

"The second season, the stakes just get higher," said Sterlin Harjo, the show's creator, writer and director. "Lee's personal life, I think the stakes are raised. And also his personal life, even more so than the first season, is intersecting with the dangers of his job."

"Everything's getting more tangled up and I feel like it's a bit of a pressure cooker around Ethan's character, Lee. And, you know, the fun is watching how he responds to it all," Harjo added.

Season one of "The Lowdown" is currently streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of FX, Hulu and this ABC station.
