Evacuation orders lifted for 'Lewis Fire' that sparked in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Forward progress of the Lewis Fire that sparked in Madera County has been stopped.

The Lewis Fire broke out at 2:40 p.m. Friday on Road 630, near Highway 41. The fire is currently holding at one acre burned.

Evacuation orders have been lifted, according to the Madera County Sheriff's Office. Highway 41 has also been reopened.

Deputies say the flames forced the evacuation of campers from the Sugar Pine Camp nearby.



The U.S. Forest Service will have crews out overnight continuing to monitor for any burn spots.
