FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The family of a Fresno man killed in a hit-and-run crash in central Fresno is pleading for the driver responsible to come forward.

The victim has been identified as Marvin Johnson Jr. His family said he was riding his motorcycle home from work Wednesday night when he was struck by a silver SUV at the intersection of Fruit and Dakota avenues. According to Fresno police, the SUV driver fled the scene after the collision.

Johnson, 30, was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

Family members described Johnson as a devoted husband, father, son, nephew and friend who worked as a driver delivering packages for Amazon. Johnson also operated a small business mounting televisions.

"He mounted TV's for people. He did a lot in the community," Hazel Ashfor, Johnson's mother, said.

Ashford said her son was known for helping others and staying active in the community.

"Just an amazing person," Ashford said. "He would help anyone."

The sudden loss has left loved ones devastated.

"Broken-hearted. Sad, hurt. Like somebody stabbed you," said Ashley Deloney, Johnson's aunt. "I just feel sick to my stomach. I'm angry. It's hard."

Johnson's family had recently returned from a vacation together before the fatal crash.

Deloney expressed frustration that the driver left the scene.

"For him to just go like that and you just take off and leave him like he's trash and just don't have the decency to see if he's breathing to see if he's okay, how could you do that?" she said.

Johnson's wife, Daryl Johnson, said she was waiting for him to return home when she received a call from his mother.

"I thought he was getting off work late. I just stayed up and then his mom called me and told me to come to the hospital," she said.

"When me and his mom walked in and we weren't able to see him, that's when I kind of knew it was real," she added.

Family members said Johnson loved traveling and cared deeply for those around him.

"What I am going to miss most about my dad is that he was a very kind person," his son, Marvin Johnson, said. "He always believed in what I did."

His wife also shared a message for her husband.

"Marvin, I love you. I'll never stop loving you and I'll see you again," Daryl Johnson said.

As Fresno police continue investigating the crash, Johnson's family is urging the driver of the silver SUV to turn themselves in.

"You might be scared or whatever the situation was just go ahead and turn yourself in because he had a family," said Mikayla Hughes.

Amazon also shared a statement about the incident.

"This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with the delivery driver's family and loved ones at this time," Louie Tran, a company spokesperson, said.

Johnson's family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help support his loved ones.
