Especially those on the outskirts of town who rely on wells.
Like Renee Hathorn, a retired social worker, and her horses, who are part of the Faith & Feather Horse Ministry Program, an Equestrian Therapy non-profit.
"They can use up to 50 gallons a day so that's what they need to keep going so I just go around and beg to borrow water from everybody," says Hathorn.
The non-profit had to stop its services back in May because of the water crisis.
Horse trainer Jonathan Coffia has seen the challenges firsthand.
"It is hard sometimes to get the water every day, and we really need the help," Coffia said.
He picks up water from people willing to help, including some neighbors.
Despite the trials, it's worth it for Jonathan.
"They are like family to me," he says, especially because the horses played a key role in his healing process after losing his dad.
Hathorn also calls her experience with horses transformative.
"It's what changed my life. I went through a really tragic childhood. I believe what kept me alive was having my horse," she said.
For more than a decade, Renee's horses have helped hundreds of children going through tough times.
They hope to continue their mission as they work towards building a new water well, which could cost almost $20,000.
The non-profit is now asking for the community's support through donations of water, hay, horse gear, volunteering and funding for the well.
"The most powerful thing anybody can do is to pray for us because that's the answer to everything because then anything can happen," says Hathorn .
