"Many of the communities that we serve are in rural communities," said Marisol de la Vega Cardoso, the Senior Vice President of Administrative Services of Family HealthCare Network.
As the city continues to expand, keeping people connected to comprehensive care in the neighborhood is critical.
"Access is one thing but ensuring that individuals know that they can access care at Family HealthCare Network is important," said de la Vega Cardoso.
Earlier this month, Family Healthcare Network opened up its second health center in the city. Located off of E. South Avenue, the new health center can take up to 200 patients. There's also a kids corner with books for families with young children.
"It's a compliment to our current site off of Manning Avenue," said de la Vega Cardoso.
The facility took eight months to build and includes a lab, 10 dental stations, and 24 examination rooms. Families can get check-ups and athletes can get their sports physicals.
"We understand the many of our patients encounter barriers like transportation, as well as affordability to healthcare and having an accessible location," said de la Vega Cardoso. "They can walk to our site. We often have our locations near bus routes."
The census also reports that 11.5% of people in Reedley are without healthcare coverage. People who don't have insurance can also come to the clinic for care.
"We want to ensure that individuals know that if they are not uninsured, they can come to Family HealthCare Network," said de la Vega Cardoso. "We offer a sliding fee scale based on family, size, and income. But we also offer services to the Medi-Cal population and private insurance."
The new facility will not only provide state-of-the-art care but also serve anyone and everyone from all walks of life.
