The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. at a home near Roosevelt and Thomas avenues.
Officials said flames started in a detached garage before spreading to the home and two neighboring residences.
Firefighters initially called a second alarm but upgraded the response to a third alarm because of the size of the fire.
Crews faced several challenges while battling the blaze, including downed power lines and a damaged gas meter.
"We did have some downed power lines that were affecting our progress on the fire as well as a gas meter that melted away and was free-flowing, so that became dangerous for our firefighters to operate in that area until we could get the gas secured," Battalion Chief Brian Downs said.
The fire was eventually contained, and no injuries were reported.
One of the affected homes was unoccupied. The other two homes were damaged, displacing four residents from one home and two residents from the other.
A total of 54 firefighters responded to the scene. Crews remained at the location for several hours after the fire was contained to ensure no hot spots remained.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
