"We will probably have over 23,000 students this semester, which is on trend to keep up with previous semesters and back to pre-COVID numbers," says FCC Marketing Director Cris Monahan Bremer.
Bremer says one-third of the students enrolled come straight from high school, including Kamila Medina, who showed up with her two friends.
This group recently graduated and is ready to take on a new journey, soaking in the different feel of a college campus.
"It's very different because it's very big and I get lost," Medina said.
For others, like Alondra Martinez, the historic campus is familiar, and she's ready for her third semester in the nursing program.
She says this college is not only helping her succeed but is also the place where she's made lifelong friendships.
"It's been the best thing that has ever happened to me," she said. "I made the best friends ever. Best friends I have ever made in my life, and the program is very hard, but at the end of the day, if you want it, you are going to work for it."
It's a reminder to younger students to stay disciplined.
"It's going to be hard, but at the end of the day, it's going to be worth it," Martinez said. "It's going to be something towards your future."
Bremer says there is always help available for students who have questions.
There are also transportation services available, including free Fresno FAX bus passes and shuttles for Kerman residents, alleviating a barrier for some.
"There are two times in the morning where they are picked up in Kerman, and then two times here in the afternoon where they are taken back, and that has been a very successful free shuttle program," Bremer said.
