FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family, friends and customers are mourning the loss of Richard Sanchez, known throughout Fresno County as "The Honeyman."

Sanchez spent the past 18 years selling honey at a makeshift stand at the intersection of Temperance and Belmont avenues, becoming a familiar and beloved figure in the community.

His granddaughter said the 91-year-old recently died from pancreatic cancer.

She added that an outpouring of support on social media has followed his passing.

"So nice people leaving messages how he impacted their lives it's got to be in the thousands already, cool and comforting, it's nice to know he left such a legacy behind," said Joanna Scarborough, Sanchez's granddaughter.

Sanchez is survived by his wife of 72 years. The couple shared six children. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
