Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, a deputy was on his way to a call for service, driving southbound on Cornelia Avenue, when he collided with a car that was pulling out of a driveway.
Lt. Paul Cervantes says the woman driving the car and the deputy were taken to a hospital with moderate to severe injuries but both are expected to be okay.
Cervantes says it's unclear how fast the deputy was driving and that he did not have his lights and siren on because this was a lower priority call.
Cervantes says witnesses provided statements, helping with the ongoing investigation.
At this time it is unclear who is at fault.
