Governor Gavin Newsom was joined by the National Guard and CHP in San Diego this afternoon.
He says more than 50 million pills and 34,000 pounds of fentanyl have been taken off the street with the help of local, state, federal and international partners since 2021.
The state says the amount of dangerous drugs is worth over 500 million dollars.
The CHP emphasized that state partnerships go beyond drug operations.
They say a deadly shooting in Hanford shows the importance of crime suppression teams.
"There was a homicide in Hanford late last week; the suspects fled. The CHP crime suppression team located the suspects in San Bernardino, arrested all three suspects, and recovered the crime gun," said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee.
Governor Newsom says the National Guard, state and local partnerships free up Border Patrol to focus on operations at the border.
