SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Gubernatorial candidates came together to outline their vision to help improve outcomes for Black students across California on Monday afternoon.

Eight candidates shared ideas to close equity gaps and expand opportunities for Black students in grades K-12.

The event was meant to provide gubernatorial candidates with a platform to address the education gaps and to engage directly with the Black community, educators and families.

The forum was in partnership with "The Sacramento Observer" and "California Black Media Advocates" group -- along with the "Black in School Coalition".

Gov. Gavin Newsom has reached term limits. His final term ends in January 2027.
