CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- High school students received a lesson in joining the military and learning just what it takes to serve our country.

On Saturday, a Service Academy Forum was held at the Clovis Unified Boardroom on David E. Cook Way.

It was hosted by Congressman Vince Fong.

Interested students learned about the application process, eligibility requirements and career opportunities in military service.

Congressman Fong says the U.S. military teaches candidates about the importance of defending our nation, "This is a great opportunity to get a great education and also be trained as a military leader. With everything going around the world we want the best and brightest to answer the call and this is a great way to do that."

Congressman Fong is now accepting applications for nominations to the U.S. Service Academies for the Class of 2030.

Completed application packets must be received by October 20 at Congressman Fong's Bakersfield District Office.
