FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family, friends and hospital staff gathered Sunday night at Community Regional Medical Center for an Honor Walk for 19-year-old Bobby Criado, celebrating what loved ones described as his final act of generosity.

People lined the hallway and gently laid roses beside Criado during the ceremonial procession.

Family members told Action News that Criado had designated himself as an organ donor, calling the decision a final testament to his character and willingness to help others in need.

Criado died from injuries he suffered in a Madera County crash Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Criado was a passenger in a Chevy Malibu when the driver ran a stop sign and collided with a Jeep.

Authorities said the 18-year-old driver of the Malibu died at the scene.
