This event has something for everyone - a timed 5K (3.1 miles) Run or Walk, a 2-Mile Walk, a 1/2 Mile Kid's Run, a 1/2 Mile Senior Walk & Roll, a pancake breakfast, an awards ceremony, a raffle prize giveaway, a resource fair, and more.

Each Memorial Day we pause for a brief time to reflect on the veterans who have sacrificed for our liberties and freedom. EVENT: NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY COMMEMORATION CEREMONY
TIME: 9AM
ADDRESS: SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY NATIONAL CEMETERY
INFORMATION: The Department of Veterans Affairs will host Memorial Day ceremonies this weekend at more than 120 VA national cemeteries across the country for 100,000 attendees. All events and parking are free of charge and open to the public, and will feature wreath-laying ceremonies, commemorative speeches, the playing of Taps and other patriotic events to honor America's interred service members.

The ceremony starts at 10a at the District cemetery for everyone to come and take part in a salute to those that have gone before us. Post 83 will have an open house following the ceremony for anyone who would like to see our Post.

INFORMATION: Recognizing the mission to honor local military personnel with banners proudly displayed in the City of Tulare

DATE: FRIDAY, MAY 22ND
EVENT: PORTERVILLE MILITARY BANNER CEREMONY
TIME: 12PM
ADDRESS: CENTENNIAL PARK, PORTERVILLE
INFORMATION: The Military Banner Program was started in 2016 for the Porterville area as a way to honor both current and past military personnel for their service to the nation and community. The banner acts as a public expression of gratitude that pays tribute to the courage, commitment, and heroism displayed by individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Loved ones may nominate a military hero to be honored with a banner that will show the individual's name and photo. Individuals may also self-nominate for the program. The banners will be displayed on major streets throughout the City. They will be raised each year for Memorial Day. Altogether, nearly 1,000 commemorative banners for former and active service members from the Porterville community have been raised along major streets in Porterville since the start of the program.

EVENT: PLACEMENT OF FLAGS ON VETERAN HEADSTONES

INFORMATION: Memorial Day Weekend at the Tulare Cemeteries is going to be full of activities as we honor the lives of our local veterans laid to rest. The community is invited to join us and our local Veteran organizations! Placement of 3,000+ flags on the headstones of veterans at the Kern Cemetery location coordinated by AMVETS.

EVENT: MEMORIAL DAY AVENUE OF FLAGS CEREMONY
TIME: 10AM
ADDRESS: VISALIA PUBLIC CEMETERY
INFORMATION: Under the pavilion at the cemetery includes Presentation of the Colors by Mount Whitney High Cadets; A Story of Service by Redwood High School; Laying of Memorial Wreaths; Prayer; Release of Remembrance Doves; Rifle Salute; Echo Taps at the conclusion of the ceremony.

INFORMATION: Join us Monday, May 25th, 2026 at 10:00AM on Farmersville Blvd as our community comes together to honor and remember the brave men and women who served our country. KINGS COUNTY
