FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Preschool students at a local daycare are learning that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference through a monthlong fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish.

At The Learning Experience Fresno Sky Park location, young students are raising money as part of the "Let's Grant Wishes" campaign.

The goal is to teach students about teamwork, generosity and inclusion.

Center Director Brooke Green said the goal is to show children that anyone can make an impact, regardless of age.

"We really just want to teach the kids that no matter how big or small you are, that it is the kindness inside your heart that really makes the biggest difference in the world," Green said.

The monthlong fundraiser is part of The Learning Experience's philanthropy curriculum, which introduces young children to giving back.

The program uses familiar characters - Grace the Greyhound and Charity the Chihuahua - to guide lessons through books and art projects.

"They're little dogs," student Nyla Bhakta said.

Through the activities, students learn simple but meaningful lessons.

"Share and give!" Bhakta said.

The class is working toward a goal of raising $5,000, enough to sponsor at least one wish for children with critical illnesses.

Staff members say the funds are being raised through dinners, bake sales and donations, and they are hopeful the goal will be met by the end of April. Beyond the money raised, Green said the lasting lesson for students matters most.

"We want to empower them to feel like they might be the littlest people in the world," she said. "But it does go such a long way."

Donations from students and their families are displayed throughout the center. Those who would like to help support the campaign can find donation information by clicking here.
