Fresno Police announced the death of 56-year-old Paul Rodriguez Cisneros on Thursday afternoon.
Cisneros was the suspect of a domestic violence incident that escalated into the attempted murder of two officers late last Saturday.
Police say Cisneros' wife told officers he had threatened to shoot her, shortly before he fired at responding officers. One police officer was injured in the exchange of gunfire.
The Saturday night shooting led to an hours-long standoff that eventually ended with Cisneros nowhere to be found.
Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto revealed on Sunday that he had left the initial crime scene Saturday night by driving away in a police patrol car as the wounded officer and a second officer took cover.
A manhunt ensued until Cisneros was found the next day at a home near Bardell and Vine avenues in southwest Fresno.
Cisneros would be taken into custody after he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
