Man hit and killed by suspected DUI driver in Madera, police say

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is behind bars after he allegedly hit and killed a man while driving under the influence in Madera.

Police responded just after 7 pm Monday to the area of Yosemite and Elm avenues.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive 25-year-old man who had been hit by a car.

The man later died on scene.

The driver of the suspect vehicle stayed on scene.



Investigators say alcohol use appears to be a factor in this crash.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Paulino Vasquez, was arrested and booked into the Madera County jail on DUI and manslaughter charges.
