It happened after 5 pm Saturday on Kearney Boulevard, west of Dickerson Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol says a Chevy Malibu was going west on Kearney when the driver veered off the road and crashed into a tree.
Officers say Amayo was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Officers say alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
