The California Highway Patrol says it happened Monday night at the intersection of Grangeville Boulevard and 15th Avenue.
Investigators say a Chevy headed north on 15th ran a stop sign and slammed into a Toyota heading east on Grangeville.
The man driving the Chevy died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.
