TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man and a woman have been found dead inside a Tulare home Friday morning.

Around 2 am, Tulare police filled the parking lot of an apartment complex on Gem Street after gunshots were fired in one of the apartments.

Police found a 44-year-old woman and 43-year-old man dead with gunshot wounds.

Officers believe it was an isolated incident.

They're not identifying the two people found inside, but Action News talked exclusively with a co-worker and dear friend of the woman who identified her as Ramona Hernandez.

"I got a call at 5:40 am and I was in disbelief, I thought I was dreaming actually," said a friend and co-worker of Hernandez.

"This is not something that Mona deserved, she was a very good woman."

Her friend says the man who was also found dead was part of Hernandez's past and someone she tried staying away from.

"She did everything she could within her limits, called law enforcement. We came up with a safety plan for her at work as well," explained Hernandez's friend.

Hernandez's neighbors say they woke up to screaming, gunshots, and shattered windows.

A scene they never expected in what they say is a calm and quiet neighborhood.

"I am a teacher and my students, I never know what's going on at home or anywhere and we can live close to someone and you think it's a happy home but it could be totally different," said a neighbor.

Hernandez's friends and family are now in mourning.

"She always put other people before herself and was an amazing mother and grandmother," said Hernandez's friend.
