MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Mariposa County woman is facing animal cruelty charges in what authorities are calling one of the worst hoarding cases in the county.

Over the course of several months, animal control made several visits to the home of Elizabeth Lopez-Calderon.

During that time, they say Calderon refused to accept assistance or cooperate with the investigation.

Eventually, authorities were granted a search warrant for the property off Highway 140, finding 36 dogs and one cat locked in the home and living in unsanitary conditions.

Mariposa County Officials say all the animals were taken and are being provided veterinary care.
