His wife, Vanessa, recently released a book in their honor titled "Mamba and Mambacita Forever."
The book features photos, images and the stories behind more than 100 public murals from Los Angeles and around the world dedicated to the Lakers player and his daughter.
One of those murals is from an artist in Merced.
In 2021, a year after Kobe died, Christian Aguilar answered a call by the Merced Arts and Culture Advisory to help beautify its downtown.
At the time, Action News interviewed him about the painting of his childhood idol.
You can see his mural of Kobe on an electrical box at M and Main Street in Merced.
Vanessa Bryant also took notice of his work.
The piece is featured in her latest book.
"Kobe was my idol," Aguilar says, "You know, I went to one of his games and one time he said 'what's up' to me."
Aguilar says it all started when Vanessa Bryant saw his mural in a post on Instagram.
As a die-hard Kobe fan, he says he still can't believe he got this opportunity.
