Merced River flows expected to increase, warning given to stay out of water

Updated 2 hours ago
MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Merced County officials are warning people to stay out of the Merced River.

That's because flows along the river are expected to increase significantly in the coming days as part of operations at Lake McClure.

You may have noticed water moving more swiftly around Henderson Park and the Snelling area, as well as farther downstream.

The flows will only continue to pick up and can sweep away even the strongest swimmers.

These increased water flows will likely remain higher for two weeks or more.
