The California Highway Patrol says it happened just before 6 am at American and Del Rey avenues.
Officers say a man was driving a semi-truck and turning into the POM Wonderful plant when a man driving a Dodge Challenger rear-ended them.
The CHP believes the man driving the Dodge didn't anticipate the semi-truck turning.
The driver of the Dodge was declared dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment, but is expected to be okay.
Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
