Wednesday, April 23, 2014
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two lanes of southbound Highway 99 were shut down for several hours on Wedesday morning at Herndon Avenue while the California Highway Patrol investigated the fatal pedestrian hit and run crash

Only the fast lane was open for several hours on southbound Highway 99 at Herndon Avenue in Fresno Wednesday morning. Investigators said a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on the freeway. The victim was a woman who is believed to be in her 20's.

Investigators said the suspect's vehicle, a green truck, was been found at the 7-Eleven store at Ashlan and Highway 99. They say witnesses called authorities after the truck pulled into the store and started using the water and air station to clean evidence off the truck -- which had extensive front-end damage. Investigators said the driver of the truck had a valid driver's license and insurance for the vehicle.

Three people were detained by CHP. Investigators are looking for evidence on the highway that may tie the vehicle to the victim.
