PG&E announces decrease in rates for 5th time since 2024

Tuesday, March 3, 2026
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- PG&E announced the lowering of electric rates for the 5th time since January 2024.

The utility says combined with those previous decreases, rates are now 13% lower, with the average customer paying about $25 less per month.

The announcement, however, comes as PG&E proposes a new four-year rate hike beginning in 2027 to fund infrastructure, grid modernization and wildfire safety.

The proposal would potentially increase bills by $144 annually.

The California Public Utilities Commission is currently reviewing the proposal, with final decisions expected early next year.
