Pig rescued from backyard after detached garage catches fire in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A pig has been rescued after a fire broke out at a home in Central Fresno on Thursday morning.

Fire officials say the fire started just after 10:30 a.m. at a home off Madison Avenue south of Belmont Avenue.

When they arrived, fire crews found a detached garage in flames.

Two people were at the home when the fire started. One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby home.



Officials say that before firefighters arrived, neighbors helped rescue the occupant's pet pig, Big Mama, from the backyard.

Fresno Fire says Big Mama is "doing fine".

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
