The detective's body was transported from Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville to the Tulare County Coroner's Office in Tulare, a distance of roughly 25 miles.
Procession held for Tulare County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed
Law enforcement agencies from across the region participated, standing along the procession route to honor the fallen detective.
Medical staff at Sierra View Medical Center lined the front of the hospital in a solemn show of respect as the body was transferred from the facility.
In keeping with tradition, an honor guard has remained with the detective's body around the clock and will continue to do so until interment.
Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said the shooting happened while deputies were serving a final eviction notice after the suspect failed to pay rent for 35 days.

Boudreaux said the suspect "laid in wait," and when deputies arrived to serve the notice, they immediately came under gunfire and called for assistance.
The detective who was killed was among the group of officers who responded to help.
The detective died around noon, approximately 60 to 80 minutes after the eviction process began.
The detective leaves behind a wife who is four months pregnant.
