'Rock Fire' erupts east of Kings Canyon National Park in Inyo County, prompting evacuations

A wildfire burning just outside Kings Canyon National Park has grown to 1,795 acres as it continues to spread, according to CAL FIRE.

INYO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A wildfire burning just outside Kings Canyon National Park has grown to 1,795 acres as it continues to spread, according to CAL FIRE.

The fire, known as the Rock Fire, has prompted evacuation orders and warnings in the area.

Authorities also closed Highway 395 South near Black Rock Springs Road due to the fire.

Cal Fire said the blaze is threatening structures and power lines.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is currently unknown.

Officials continue to monitor the situation as the fire burns in Inyo County.
