FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News has learned the woman who died when a car went over a cliff near Santa Cruz was a Selma native.

Authorities say 19-year-old Alli Singh was a student at UC Santa Cruz when the car she was in plunged into the ocean last week.

The overnight crash led to a massive response as crews raced to save the people inside.

One person was able to escape from the vehicle, but it took several divers to pull Singh out of the water.

She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
