FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresh fruits are now ready and ripe for the picking in Friant.

Sumner Peck Ranch is hosting its final u-pick citrus season, as a restoration project begins along the San Joaquin River this year.

You can find different kinds of citrus crops, like oranges, pomelos, mandarins and lemons, all priced at $1.50 per pound.

There's a small quarter-mile hike to the grove, and everyone is encouraged to bring a bag, basket or bucket for picking fruit.

"Properties like Sumner Pech Ranch on the San Joaquin River parkway are really meant to be places where the community can enjoy, to get the benefit from getting time outside, mental health and physical health benefits," says Sarah Parks with the San Joaquin River Parkway & Conservation Trust.

U-Pick is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

You do not need to register in advance to visit.

The River Parkway Trust says this last season should go until April 15.

Sumner Peck Ranch will remain open during and after restoration efforts.
