CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A standoff that lasted more than 10 hours ended with Clovis Police arresting 33-year -old Evan Wooten after he hid inside of an attic for most of the day.

It all started around 8:30 Tuesday morning at an apartment near Jefferson and Music in Clovis. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a possible stabbing. It then turned into a hostage situation when Wooten wouldn't let a woman leave the home.

She was eventually let go but had several knife wounds.

Clovis Police said it took them this long to go in because the suspect was armed.

"In a situation like this-- we knew he was in the apartment. He is a violent criminal that needed to be apprehended," said Jim Koch, Clovis Police Department.
