FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Atwater police are still investigating a deadly and unusual hit-and-run crash.
They say a car hit a vehicle near Buhach Road and Avenue 1 late Saturday night and then drove away from the crash. But just a little while later, and less than a mile away, police found the suspect car in a canal with one person dead inside.

Investigators haven't identified that person, and they're not sure yet whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Officers say the victims in the initial crash are okay.
