The fatal collision happened around 10:30 a.m. just north of Avenal Cutoff Road.
Authorities have identified 62-year-old Gurmeet Barha as the driver of the truck.
Officers say Barha was driving a white 2020 Freightliner Cascadia truck tractor and was pulling a trailer when, for reasons still under investigation, he steered the truck into the center median.
The impact caused the truck and trailer to overturn. Authorities say Barha was partially ejected during the crash and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
