The building is located on O Street and Bardsley Avenue in Tulare.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said that the planning for the state-of-the-art facility began nearly five years ago, and it took about 18 months to build.
The new coroner's office has advanced radiology capabilities and an on-site lab to help investigators as they work to solve cases.
"And so the advanced technology that we've been able to not only put in with this infrastructure, but the scope and size of it," Boudreaux said. "We're able to have 10 office staff. We have to house them. All of that is provided with this new building."
The new coroner's office was funded by taxpayer dollars in Tulare County.
