MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- UC Merced was awarded a major boost to help fund student research projects.
The Keck Foundation will invest $1.8 million in the university.
The foundation plans to direct $600,000 to protect faculty and doctoral researchers from disruptions in federal grant support, while the remaining $1.2 million will go towards laboratory research in chemistry and biochemistry.
The university says these all important grants help to boost scientists at a pivotal stage in their careers.
