U.S. Forest Service to close Fresno office in cost-cutting move

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The U.S. Forest Service is closing multiple facilities in a cost-cutting move, and the Fresno office is on the list.

The agency says a recent nationwide review found that 23 targeted facilities are underused and the closures will save more than $16 million.

Closures were initially announced in March, but around 40 of them were saved.

Affected employees will keep their jobs, but will move to other facilities.

The forest service manages more than 16,000 buildings nationwide.



It says it will keep reviewing the feasibility of other locations.
