VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- More than 30,000 students in the South Valley are getting up early once again and heading back to school.

Thursday is the first day of class for the Visalia Unified School District.

Staff and school officials are preparing to welcome students back to campuses across Visalia.

Some changes to the district this year include a new Career Technology Exploration class for junior high students.

The hands-on course will give kids a chance to learn more about the pathways they'll be able to choose from in high school.

The district is also implementing its new cell phone policy, and new TV and audio systems will be installed.
