FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Big times are back at the Big Fresno Fair, but that doesn't mean you have to spend big.

"This year at the Big Fresno Fair, we have more discounts than ever," says Taylor Collins, Special Event and Program Coordinator.

Start by having a game plan. There are designated discount days and pre-sale tickets offered at a reduced price.

"Save Mart and FoodMaxx sell discounted tickets -- Adults can get $3 off, and seniors and kids can get $2 off," Collins said.

They also offer a savings on carnival ride wristbands, with a price cut of up to $7.

On October 8th, or kids' day, you can score carnival rides for just $2 thanks to Sun Maid.

Also in the pop culture building are free video games, VR and LEGO building.

Additional free experiences can be found in the museum, home and hobby area and ag adventure building.

Enjoy the food without frying your budget.

On both Thursdays of the fair, enjoy $3 bites from a variety of vendors.

"You can try sample Korean corn dogs, cookies and different foods from our vendors," Collins said.

There are deals on food every day. You just have to know where to look.

"We've also got a value meal that's available every day," says Chicken Charlie's co-owner, Tony Boghosian. "For us at Chicken Charlie's, that's a chicken kabob, it's almost a pound of meat, fresh marinated and fresh cut with bell peppers and onions for $21.95. It's enough for two people."

If you're a fan of Country Fair cinnamon rolls, a six-pack is $49, meaning you save at least $5. With frosting and nuts included, you're getting two free.

You can also buy a frozen four-pack for less than the price of two to bake at home later.

Feel like a VIP without spending extra for it by enjoying your beverages in the new Ivy bar.

As for staying hydrated, in addition to the clear bag policy, for the first time, fairgoers are allowed to bring empty reusable water bottles.

Special promotions are happening throughout the duration of the fair, including next Thursday, which also happens to be a $3 bite day.

You can get in for just $6 when you join ABC30 in supporting the Fresno State Student Cupboard. Half of your $6 ticket goes to providing food and hygiene products for students in need.
