AAA reporting a 27-cent hike in one week, bringing the average to $5.93 a gallon in Fresno County.
"I'm definitely seeing a huge difference," Garrett Elliott told Action News. He is one of the many drivers feeling the pain, and he is now rationing how much he fills up.
"I have to take initiative to only do a little bit here and there, until I can go to a cheaper place, where I can really fill up my tank and make the most of it," Elliott said.

With gas prices so high, some drivers are now looking at Flex Fuel.
At one Northwest Fresno gas station, Action News found it for $2.99 a gallon. It comes with a warning to only use it in Flex Fuel vehicles.
"It's kind of a combination of gasoline and methanol," Dennis Montalbano at German Auto Repair told Action News.
Flex Fuel contains significantly more ethanol than gasoline. Over the years, Montalbano has seen issues with engines.
"It is not good for anything that has rubber in the carburetor," Montalbano said. "It will swell up. It will deteriorate."
For vehicles that can use Flex Fuel, each trip to the pump can be cheaper. However, you will likely visit more often.
Each gallon contains about 27 percent less energy. Maintenance costs also increase.
"If you can't afford to buy good fuel, you probably can't afford to fix your car either," Montalbano said. "I would tell you not to do it."
But the appeal comes as prices increase across the board.
The Action News Price Tracker shows the rising cost of household goods, impacting everything from housing to groceries and airfare.
"I can definitely feel just the overall economy, prices going up," Elliott said. "That's why I try to make budgeting happen, but with gas, it's hard to do that. I just ran out of gas, and I had to pull over to fill up, but I didn't want to do more than $20."
