Plans to expand Santa Claus Lane in Clovis

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Starting November 24, visitors will be able to enjoy Santa Claus Lane near Gettysburg and Kaweah.

In its third year of existence, Santa Claus Lane is going bigger and better than ever. Visitors will be able to enjoy new music and a lot more decorated homes.

"You know a lot of visitors are going to come and they want to see something fresh and new every year," said Jason Martinez.

This year, the holiday extravaganza is growing. The synchronized light show set to music is expanding from 16 to 34 homes in 2017.

"As far as we know we are the largest residential light show in the world," said Deb Toews.

It is miles and miles of extension cords and enough LED strands to light up the North Pole.

"All the music is always different every year. We don't repeat songs from the previous year because we want it to be a brand new fresh show," said Toews.

All the work that goes into getting 34 homes decorated and synchronized is the brainchild of Terry and Deb Toews. The couple works throughout the year on ways to improve and become more efficient.

"By the end of February we already have to know who's going to be involved and who's going to buy lights to get a great discount and get free shipping," said Toews.

After watching Santa Claus Lane from his doorstep the last two years, Lance Philips was thrilled when he and his wife were asked to join the festivities this year.

"There's been lots of extra work but it's all fun because you get to get out with your neighbors and you get to really meet them and hang out with new people," said Phillips.

That is what the neighbors all say, Santa Claus Lane has helped them form a bond that they would not otherwise have.

"People you wouldn't normally interact with or say hello when you take your dumpsters out. You actually get to meet them. It brings out a tight-knit community. Everyone cares about each other here," said Martinez.
